REAL Initiative - REAL Inspiration Course

Intro: This 12-hour, 4-session course will inspire delegates in the performance and digital art sector to learn about immersive technologies and how they can support them in their own practice.

Delegates will expand their creative horizons by being introduced to new immersive technologies including Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality, (AR) Mixed Reality (MR), Motion Capture, and Volumetric Filming – they will also learn how to incorporate and apply these into their own work, for example, filming for virtual reality, or using motion capture for digital art.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to develop their own digital art immersive tech art project, using the technology covered. It is hoped that artwork produced will be exhibited in the April-June ‘Place and Memory’ Phoenix Gallery, which will explore Phoenix’s history with developing local artists in Leicester.

The course aims to inspire, educate and equip recent and pre-graduate individuals to advance their creative practice and entrepreneurial spirit.

Course leaders:

Anthony Woodward, MA – Twin Planets
Rebekah Heathcote – IOCT Resident Digital Dance Artist
Supported by:

Dr Sophy Smith, Head of the Institute of Creative Technologies at De Montfort University
Dave Paget, VFX Teacher and manager of the Motion Capture Lab, De Montfort University.
